Without Sonic chapter 1

Chapter one

“ …dust to dust , ashes to ashes …. We lay you back in the earth were all of us are born …. May you rest in peace and my the angels take you to the kingdom in the sky …”  
Shadow looked up from the ground as the commander stopped talking . The Glass coffin  in front of Shadow contained a cobalt  hedgehog.  The hedgehog was named Sonic . Shadows one and only love .  Sonic had been a great hero . But being with Shadow had stopped his ageing presses . He still looked like the reckless  teenage  hero he had always been.  Shadow’s  eyes filled with tears as they lowered the coffin into the ground and began to cover it with dirt .
Shadow sat there in his chair long after the funeral was over . Sonic was gone , but since he was the ultimate life form he would never die of old age . He would never die at all . He moved closer to the marble  head stone and touched it gently,  Tracing the letters .
“  Here lies  Sonic …. Wonderful  mother … And Lover …. “ Shadow repeated  the words .
Sounds of footsteps  called his attention to the blue hedgehog girl with black  hair streaked red and blue in places . She was wearing a black long dress the flowed as she walked toward Shadow . Her eyes were a fire a crimson red like Shadow’s , and filled with worry . She was his daughter , Rush .
“ come on dad let mom rest in peace . “ She almost whispered with great sorrow for her fallen mother .
“ …….”
She came closer and grabbed the handle s on the back of Shadows chair wheeling him away from the grave . Shadow had lost his ability to walk 20 years ago . HE was fighting the enchenda uprising with his friends shortly after him and Sonic had conquered the planet for the peace of all . An enchenda had slashed the back of his spine leavening him paralyzed for ever. Sonic never minded . Back when Sonic was still alive .  Sonic had been 327 years old , since  being with Shadow had made him some what immortal by stopping his ageing process and slowing his life expectancy ,when they found him sleeping peacefully in bed in the forever sleep we all must face . But not Shadow . Shadow clenched his fists fighting back tears . It would be shameful to cry in front of his daughter when she herself held back tears of her own .
“ Rush ….will you  die to ? “ Shadow asked more to himself then to his daughter as she pushed him into the castle to the  ramp that led to the second landing .
“ no dad I have your DNA ….. I’ve stopped ageing and  I’ll stay with you forever ….”
“ I know ….. Have you been to visit Will and the kids ? ? “
Rush went silent . Shadow looked down . He forgot how much it hurt  Rush to be reminded that her family were gone .  They had died  at least  50 years before Shadow and Sonic had conquered the planet .  Will Was Silver and Amy’s  son.  Silver had vanished years ago along with Scourge the hedgehog  , Sonics anti self .  Amy had died when  Will was 4 , she had been hit by a car saving her son . Rush and Will had met in high school and had so many problems with the other that they loved each other. They had three kids of their own . Maria , Garth , and Abby . Shadow  almost  started to cry again remember in his grand children.
“ do you miss them  ? …..”
“ all the time dad …..”
Shadow could hear her choking back tears . He remembered the day after Will’s funeral was when they discovered Rush was immortal like him . She had jumped off a building and landed on her back  hard enough to break her spine in two . But she was alive .   
Rush wheeled Shadow into a mechanics room where a red hedgehog with black flame like markings on his ears and spikes , was welding  the wing of a plane back onto the body .  Hotrod was Shadow’s  son , and Rush’s twin brother. He was a mechanic specialist . He had learned everything from Tails when he was a kid.  But Tails was gone to . He died during the Enchenda uprising . The more Shadow thought about it he had never considered how many of his friends were gone . But the pain of losing them was nothing compared to the pain of living without Sonic .
“ Hotrod!” Rush yelled at her twin brother.
Hotrod looked up and pulled off his mask revealing his emerald eyes . Shadow flinched looking at those eyes .  Sonics eyes .
“ yeah ? “
“ Dads  chair broke again “
Hotrod  groaned jumping off the plane and coming over with the welding torch.
“ where ? “
Rush slapped him across the head .
“ you moron where were you ? “
“ ow ! What the crap !?”
“ you missed  mom’s funeral !”
“ that was today ? “
“ yes !!!!”
Shadow rolled his eyes and wheeled himself out of the  room , not wanting to deal with their childish squabbles , to his bedroom .  He wheeled over to the bed and  helped himself onto it. He lays there looking up at the ceiling . Life was pointless without Sonic . There was no life without Sonic .  Suddenly a black cloth was put over his  eyes . Shadow opened his mouth to let out a cry of surprise only to  be gagged by some one .
“ ok lets go ! “
“ please tell me this will work “
“ it will “
Shadow felt himself lifted off the bed his arms tied   behind his back and  his captors took him to a new place. Shadow struggled to get out of there grips  but  he felt something  stick his shoulder and inject something into him .  The whole world went dark as Shadow passed out .
He could hears voiced .
“ is he breathing ? “
“ check his pulse “
He felt some one grab his wrist .
“ he’s  alive … “
“ Shadow wake up “
Shadow opened his eyes and looked around . There were two pairs of eyes hovering over him like 4 bright moons. Two were an icy blue that almost seemed innocent . The other two were honey topaz eyes that would almost melt you with cuteness . Shadow sat up looking at the two hedgehogs in shock . This couldn’t be them , they had died years ago . But here they were the psykonetic albino hedgehog , Silver , and the violent green anti-Sonic , Scourge .
“ you two are dead ….” Shadow muttered not wanted to believe what he was seeing .
“ well no not technically I mean yes we should be dead but there is something far more important at steak here Shadow. We’ve brought you to the future that happens after the day you lose Sonic . “ Silver explained his  voice a mixture of fear and strength.
“ what are you talking about ?”
“ we’ll Shadow you ,” Scourge said to Shadow putting on hand on his shoulder,” get up “
“ I can’t stupid my legs don’t work!” Shadow snapped at Scourge slapping his hand away .
Scourges ears folded and Silver looked Shadow.
“ we fixed your legs now get up there isn’t much time . “
Shadow sighed and thought he would humor Silver he slid off the cot. To his amazement Siler was right . He stood up on his legs and walked a bit . He looked at Silver and nodded thanks to him . Silver nodded back to show he understood and walked out through a door . Shadow followed him with scourge in tow .  Shadow couldn’t believe his eyes . The world was in ruins . Fires blazed from every field he could see. All the world was lost .
“ how did this happen? “  Shadow asked in no more then a shocked whisper.
“ you happened Shadow . After Sonic died you became a dark ruler and almost completely destroyed you kingdom with famine and cruel punishments. “  Silver told him sitting on a rock.
Shadow fell to his knees in disbelieve. He had done this . He had killed and destroyed .
“ my kids? “
“ you had them put to death as threats to your rule..” Scourge explained
Shadow did want to believe either of them . None of this had to be true . But there was the proof laid out before him like a terrible scar. Shadow choked back the tears  that formed in his eyes .  
“  Sonic would have never let any of this happen is he were here “ Shadow thought to himself
Scourge touched Shadow’s shoulder.
“ Shadow it’s not going to be like this me and Silver are going to make sure of that . “
“ how ? “
Silver got up and took a needle from his pocket shoving it into Shadow’s shoulder and injecting him with a green liquid.  Shadow yelled in pain since the needle was not a small one .
“ we’re going to give you Sonic back “ Silver explained .
Shadow was about to question how but he felt himself loosening consciousness .  Soon the whole world went black around him .

Shadow reawoke in his bed . The soft  warm sheets were pulled around him snuggly and something was nuzzling his chest .  Shadow looked and his heart skipped a beat. He one blue love lay there in his arms Shadow almost didn’t believe it but Sonic nuzzled into his white patch and purred.  Shadow smiled it was true and he was happy .
